River Island 'Hi Summer' press day for S/S 2012
I had the privilege of interning at the river island 'Hi Summer' press day for the Spring/Summer 2012 collection, it was an amazing experience. It was very much a hands on day backstage dressing the models, but I also got the chance to watch the show, as well as mingle with press and make some new friends with bloggers, models and other interns.
The S/S collection has something that will appeal to everyone and their individual styles, and it's also very wearable. The fabrics used for both the mens and womenswear are brightly coloured with the tailoring very relaxed, just what you need from a S/S collection. Print is a key feature of the collection, with a variety of contrasting patterns that you can wear together or separately, depending on how brave you're feeling, featured on dresses, bikinis and shorts for the girls, and capri pants and shirts for the guys.
The showroom was transformed into a pool side setting in Miami or Ibiza beach, both inspirational locations for the collection, so despite the cold weather outside it felt like it was summer inside, with a bar serving cocktails and a DJ playing by the make shift pool. It was our very own Miami and Ibiza in the heart of London!

The 'hi Summer' press day was a huge success, and at the end of the day I wanted to own every piece in the collection, wishing the Summer months would come early, so that I could wear them! An experience I would very much like to repeat again.
