Bright bold colours are something that not just Gaga and Rihanna can do. We can all stick to red, but how many of us dare to try the statement lip.
Statement lips, I admit, are something I have never considered usually opting for a soft sheer and simple lip colour. In the past I have seen people in Camden and Carnaby Street, London, with bright lips to match the unique extrovert style of the inhabitants and visitors, yet I wouldn’t dare! However, I might just be persuaded to give this look a go, with Statement lips seen at both Mary Katrantzou and Thierry Mugler's Spring/Summer12 shows. The statement lip look works best against bare dewy skin so that it's the main focus of the face. My favourite colours are lime green, bright blue and rich fuchsia, and are best complimented with matching accessories.
To create this look line your lips with Lip Line Perfector from Makeup forever, a colourless pencil that defines the lips and acts as an invisible barrier, not only does it keep the colour insider the lips it also prevents lipstick from bleeding. Next apply OCC Lip tar to lips using a lip brush or applicator.
OCC is very high in pigment so it is best to start with a small amount, If you want to take it that extra mile why not take inspiration from Thierry Muglers S/S12 collection by adding some coloured glitter to the lips. The perfect transitional look from day to night.
