I highly recommend Aleternative Fashion Week to anyone who is interested
in arts, crafts, music or fashion, or just looking for some one off bargains
from the stalls!!! It’s bursting with energy, and you get to meet people from
different backgrounds (very good for social networking!) and trades, this years was located in Spitalfields, a great location for picking up some statement pieces from emerging design talent, and it's completely free!
Unlike most fashion shows, where you just watch a bunch of
models walk down the runaway with the camera’s snapping away at them in the
‘photographers press den’, Alternative Fashion Week allows you to enjoy the
open space, providing live performances for you to capture. If you’re part of the press make sure you are there 15 mins before the show to get the best spot. If you’re a style hunter, ensure that that DSLR is charged; and always make sure you carry an extra, as you’re bound to capture fashionistas and models passing by the venue with their 'vintage-with-a-modern-twist' attire all bought straight out of Brick Lane.
Whilst I was there (I could unfortunately only stay for an hour L ) I was able to speak
to my favourite designer, Natasha Flodman. The
inspiration behind her collection, ‘AAAAAHHHHH I think its times for bed’ are the physical elements associated with
sleeping such as duvets, pillows and pillowcases, and what people wear to bed, underwear, silk gowns and oversized t-shirts.
Natasha found her inspiration after noticing how artists had combined the conventions of sleep into their art work and liked the thought of combining an unconventional yet conceptual collection which would cater for women, and be worn out to bars, parties and restaurants. Natasha chose white as the main colour for the collection, due to the emotions associated with it, such as cleanliness and freshness, which is also reflected in the tailoring and fabric choice for the collection.

I loved the simple colour palette, white is a big trend for this Summer (if we ever get any sunshine that is!) and there are pieces that I could see women wanting to
add to their wardrobe, and mixing and matching with items they already have.
