Last night was the most hotly anticipated night of the fashion calender, with the whos who of the celebrity and fashion world descending on the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, for the annual Costume Institute Gala. Designer of choice for many was Prada, with a wide array of designs walking their way down the red carpet, from the attention grabbing metallic dress worn by Carrey Mullighan to Diane Krugher's purple maxi number, which is growing on us the more we see it, here's a few of our other favorites . . .
Our favourite look from the night came in the form of this jaw dropping custom made 20's inspired Rachel Zoe gown worn by Kardina Kurkova, with matching turban headband, accessorised to perfection with a plethora of dazzling bangles and rings
Carey Mullighan looked stunning in this metallic Prada dress, leaving the dress to take centre stage, with minimal make-up, clean updo and soft metallic shoes
Hilary Swank in a custom Michael Kors gown and Fred Leighton Jewels
Amy Adams looks stunning in this Giambattista Vali Haute Couture asymmetric gown, loving the bow detail belt to define the waist
Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera with trademark lightly curled hair and subtle make up
Cate Blanchett adds a touch of drama in Alexander McQueen
Diana Kruger looks effortlessly stylish in this Prada maxi dress
Kate Bosworth in a black 50's inspired Prada dress
Emma Stone in a red floral Lanvin number
