Do you love to read but shelf space is scarce and the Kindle everyone has these days is just a tad to expensive to make its way to the top of your priority list? German company Textr's latest invention is predicted to put the Kindle and others like it out of business and boy do we agree!
Introducing the Beagle, an e-reader with a significant twist. Said to be launched at a meagre price of just £8 (yes you read that accurately!) It seems the reason they are able to make it so affordable is in the removal of intricate electronics and functions most tablets have, thereby taking it back to basics. Simply put it can hold up to 5 books, a logical amount which are transferred by bluetooth from a downloadable phone app. It claims to be the smallest and lightest e-reader with no charger required as two AAA batteries give it life for up to 12 months or 12-15 books depending on your pace and available in six colours.
No launch date yet exists and you wont be able to buy the Txtr Beagle as a standalone product...yet. The plan for the UK is to administer it as an accessory on a smartphone contract. However if it does go solo other e-readers should watch out!
With a 'read only' slogan its simple design ethic seems utterly logical, appealing to the masses, the perfect buy for ones self or as a present we here at Teenbook think its set to be a future hit.
