The 17 year old 'Summly' App creator...

With all the rage focusing on his age - he's just 17 years old! - Nick D'Aloiso recent launch of apple iPhone app 'Summly' seems the natural result for a teenager who has been writing app codes since he was 12. As its name denotes, Summly simplifies and summarises articles from hundreds of online sources, into bitesize 400 character paragraphs that fit perfectly onto an iPhone screen using an algorithm that selects key notes.
"I designed Summly because I felt that my generation wasn't consuming traditional news anymore," said Nick.

Filtered by categories: Technology, Sports Fashion and so on...we can see why this app has taken off so fast with celebrity backers such as Ashton Kutcher and Stephen Fry, the prototype was downloaded more than 15,000 times!
"The reality hasn't sunk in, I've just been focused on building the product", he said. You'd think at such a young age maybe this fast rise to technological fame would severely alter his life right? Apparently not, "My friends treat me the same, so do my parents. I have a girlfriend and I keep in touch with my school". Nick has taken time off from his studies to launch the app but wants to study either philosophy or history at university.
So for all you teen readers out there, your ages is no hindrance. Remember that as Nick himself says, his age was "irrelevant" to investors because "at the end of the day, they're judging the product." Of course he probably wouldn't have had quite as much media coverage if he'd been older, kudos to him for his ingenuity and dedication, he's definitely a teen to admire.
