Roses, metallics and candy... we must be talking LFW!

It is a well know fact that the future of British fashion lies between the walls of Somerset House, as all forms of fashion hierarchy fight their way to the F-row. Season after season we brace ourselves in anticipation and this year was no exception.

Rising star Holly Fulton showcased a strong collection, straying from her signature architectural inspired designs and instead drawing inspiration from 60's skater girl Peggy McGee. Focusing on an array of embellishment with roses embroidered onto plastic Teddy Girl jackets she well and truly paid tribute to the American Dream. Models took to the the runway in shades of flamingo pink, sherbet lemon yellows and sky blues in soft pastel leathers with of course her trademark Deco prints.

"I went to LA for the first time earlier this year and I was really struck by the saccharine optimism that permeates the place," said Holly Fulton backstage after her SS13 mouth watering collection. Teenbooks favorite moment? Opening with a full procession of models, snapping the audience into a frenzy as they drank in her wondrous creations row after row.

A question that we frequently ask ourselves leading up to LFW is how on earth some of the designers will surpass their previous collections. However maybe its time we had a little more faith. The almighty Burberry Spring/Summer Ready-to-Wear collection poured down the runway as Christopher Baily brought sexy back with a side order of sweetness.

A colour palette of Candy-wrapper shades merged with his already sigh worthy tailoring to create a symphony of dazzling outfits verging on Art. And of course the latest evolution of the famous Trench coat made an appearance along with distinctive cape shapes, it was almost dare we say it ... barbie-ish as models graced the catwalk in molten jewel shades and metallic fabrics, injecting fun into our traditionally rainy British summer.
Saving the best for last, Christopher Kane our favorite Scott to invade LFW left the critics yearning for more as boxy jackets and candy coloured pleated dresses held together by nuts and bolts flooded the catwalk.

Best described as 'chaotically clever' Kane mixed many elements and textures in each look resulting in a candy shop esq vibe as the audience found itself desperately wanting to have a sample of every bright soft and squishy treat making its way down the catwalk. When Christopher Kane commits to a story he really goes all the way and boy do we love him for it!
